Jake Lawson

Born and raised in Aurora, Nebraska, Jake has worked in newsrooms across the state for nearly a decade. He worked his way from the production booth at NTV News to the 10/11 assignment desk where he leads day-to-day newsgathering with a talented team of reporters and photographers.

Jake graduated from UNK and UNO with a bachelor’s in theatre and then a master’s in stage and screenwriting. His thesis took interviews from the homeless community in Kearney and wove them into a documentary theatre play.

The impact of their stories later landed Jake in Nebraska journalism. While handling car crashes, crimes, and spot news around Lincoln, Jake lives to tell the impactful stories of his neighbors. He strives to provide his community with clear, consistent, and accurate information.

When he’s not highlighting affidavits or answering the phone, Jake loves to spend time with friends around the capital city, catch a movie, or catch up on a book. He also enjoys candlelit days at home with his cats Lenny and Tiny.
